Goochland Slave Cemetery

Goochland Cemetery (Slave) – NW on Broad Street-Nashville Highway (US 41-70) to Smyrna, right (E) on Sam Ridley Parkway, left (N) on Fitzhugh Boulevard at Smyrna Airport. This was the slave cemetery  for the Goochland Plantation, home of Dr. John C. Gooch. One marker for about 80+ graves. Originally wooden markers. “If you visit in the Spring the blooming daffodils show the locations of many of the graves."

I had a very difficult time finding this one. I spotted one lone headstone among a group of trees on the right hand side of Fitzhugh. I pulled over and took a couple of photos of the headstone and where the 80 or so slave plots are possibly located. There is a Greenway that runs along the side of this cemetery.
